General Info

Tucked away at 105 Shinmachi, Sakura, Chiba 285-0023, Japan, Okayama Shokudo feels like the kind of neighborhood restaurant locals quietly treasure. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is warm and relaxed. The dining space is cozy rather than flashy, which makes it comfortable whether you’re dropping in for dinner with friends, visiting with family, or simply enjoying a casual meal after a long day.

As a tonkatsu restaurant, the menu centers on crispy, golden cutlets, and the kitchen clearly takes pride in getting the details right. One of the standout meals here is the 上ロースカツ定食 塩付き &ミニメンチ×2, a satisfying set that pairs premium pork loin cutlet with two mini minced meat patties. The tonkatsu arrives perfectly fried-crunchy outside, juicy inside-and the accompanying salt brings out the pork’s natural flavor in a surprisingly simple way. It’s the kind of dish that reminds you why tonkatsu remains such a beloved comfort food in Japan.

Another reliable favorite on the menu is the ロースカツ定食を, a classic pork loin cutlet set served with rice and sides that balance the richness of the fried pork. If you enjoy variety, the ミックスフライ定食 is a great pick. This mixed fry set offers a combination of crispy items, making every bite slightly different from the last. The kitchen keeps the coating light and crunchy, so the flavors never feel heavy.

For those who prefer grilled flavors over fried dishes, the 焼き肉 定食 offers a nice alternative. The savory grilled meat pairs well with rice and makes for a hearty dinner option. Meanwhile, the 日替わりランチ gives regular visitors something new to look forward to. The daily lunch changes depending on what the kitchen prepares that day, which keeps the menu interesting for repeat customers.

Service at Okayama Shokudo is simple and practical. Takeout is available, which is convenient if you want to enjoy the restaurant’s tonkatsu at home. The restaurant also works well for groups, and the welcoming atmosphere makes it good for kids too. Families often stop by for dinner, and the staff keeps things running smoothly even during busy times.

Overall, the experience here feels genuine and comforting. The menu focuses on well-prepared Japanese favorites, the location is easy to find in Sakura, and the relaxed environment encourages you to slow down and enjoy your meal. Reviews from visitors often highlight the satisfying portions and the crisp, freshly fried cutlets-details that make Okayama Shokudo stand out as a dependable local dining spot.

What customers say?

“ At 5:30 PM on a weekday Friday, the parking space in front of the restaurant was full. There was only one space left in the nearby parking lot, so we managed to squeeze in just right! Inside the restaurant, the first floor was about half full. I ordered a salted pork cutlet set meal and a mixed fry set meal, and they were brought to me in about 10 minutes. The rice was firm and delicious, freshly fried, but the batter on the mixed fry was a little too crunchy and hard. The dressing on the cabbage was so good I wish I could buy it! I'll probably ask about it next time I go. The pork cutlet was about 2 cm thick, and the salt added a sweetness that made it very tasty. The mixed fry croquette was also well-seasoned and didn't need any toppings. The horse mackerel fries were smaller than I expected, but they were fluffy and not fishy. The squid was tiny, too. This was my first time here, based on word of mouth and a recommendation from an acquaintance, but the food was just as delicious as expected. The staff were also very attentive and helpful! Next time I'd like to go for lunch as soon as they open It seems to be busier at lunchtime, so I think it's better to go earlier to secure a parking space! The winter melon soup was soft and delicious. ”

“ First visit in early November 2025 I visited on a weekday just before lunchtime, but both the parking lot in front of the store and the parking lot around the curve north of the store were full! You may have to park in a municipal parking lot a little further away. The store was full, and there were already several groups waiting. If the store is full, there is a queue list inside; please write your name and number of people in your group and wait. The most popular menu items seem to be the pork loin cutlet set meal or the premium pork loin cutlet set meal. It seemed like many customers also ordered the daily set meal. I ordered the salt pork cutlet set meal. It was like a pork loin cutlet set meal with a salt set. There were four types of salt (from left to right): rock salt, wasabi salt, curry salt, and shiso salt. Sauces were provided, so you could enjoy a total of five different flavors with the four types of salt and sauce. There were also older people (around 70) ordering pork cutlet dishes. Everyone ate everything, so it's a restaurant that people of all ages and genders can enjoy. If you're passing by, please consider this as your lunch spot. If you found this article helpful in any way, please click the heart It encourages me to keep posting! ”

“ On a beautiful Sunday, I felt it would be a waste to laze around at home, so I drove out for lunch. My destination was Okayama Shokudo on Shinmachi Street in Sakura. [Butcher's Cutlet Curry and Minced Meat Cutlet] I entered the restaurant 15 minutes after it opened. The restaurant was almost full, as expected of a popular restaurant. The young staff were cooking and serving with great efficiency, and it was a pleasure to watch. Today, I ordered the restaurant's cutlet curry and minced meat cutlet as single dishes. The curry sauce was poured into a deep dish, overflowing like ripples. Then, a tray of cutlet curry arrived, with rice and freshly fried pork loin cutlets floating like small islands on the edge of the plate, and freshly fried minced meat cutlets. First, I took a sip of miso soup. Delicious! I can look forward to the cutlet curry as well. As you'd expect from a butcher shop, the pork loin cutlet and minced meat cutlet are made with high-quality meat. They're also fried to perfection. The curry roux isn't the yellow roux full of vegetables you'd find at a local diner, but a more elaborate roux that's been left to steep for a long time. Needless to say, this was also delicious. I ate it all without a break. Thank you for the meal. I was very satisfied with this reasonably priced, great-value lunch. The menu also includes fried seafood, so it looks like there are many fun combinations to choose from. I'll definitely stop by again. ”

“ I had a very nice pork cutlet meal set, very good portion size and great service even when I am unable to speak Japanese only English. I also had a great conversation with a girl practicing her English. ”

“ A tonkatsu restaurant located a little far from the station. An image of a large local dining room inside the store. There are many table seats, but due to its popularity, people often wait in line. There are plenty of menus other than tonkatsu. ”

“ The top loin cutlet was very thick, crispy, and delicious! The accompanying side dishes, soup, and pickles were also delicious, and the service was pleasant, so I'd definitely like to go back! The shungiku with shira-ae sauce was delicious, and although I wasn't a big fan of shira-ae sauce, it completely changed my perspective! ”
